表示立体事物的中心(如球心等),一般只用centre,而不能用middle.如：
the centre of the ball 球心
区别二
centre 多指物体的正中心,而 middle 则指中间或中部,因而它表示的位置不如 centre 精确.比较：
the centre of the room 房间的正中央
the middle of the room 房间的中间(不一定在正中间)
the centre of London 伦敦的市中心
the middle of England 英格兰的中部
由于“圆心”指的总是圆的正中心,所以总是要用 centre.如：

区别三
由于 centre 表示的位置比较准确,所以若要表示“在……的中心”,其前可用介词不仅可用 in,也可用 at；而 middle 前的介词则通常是 in.如：
